A Believer’s Mission in a Bad Environment
Even though nature cannot cry out loud when mistreated; its mistreatment shows its consequences every day in our lives. Even if many resources are used to prevent pollution and deforestation, it is still not a controllable problem. Ambitions and unawareness make human beings cut off trees and pollute their environment every day. The economic outcomes might be good, but they do not know that their neighbors, children and grandchildren are affected by their selfish decisions towards nature. Every Christian is called to fulfill a mission upon the earth. Since no particular talent is required to keep a safe environment, every Christian should consider nature treatment as one of their daily duties. God, the Almighty also enjoys a good environment in Genesis 1:31 it is written “God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good"(NIV). It shows carelessness and disobedience to God when we treat our environment like it was not perfectly designed for the well of human beings. Not many churches preach about nature preservation and development. That is why many Christians are not aware of the significance of their action when working for a company that mistreats or destructs the environment. Christians should teach about nature preservation to others and show the biblical evidence to endorse the importance of it. In her article Good Environment good for business, Julie Aiken states ”We can grow the economy including the manufacturing sector while preserving and improving our planet's environment. Environment and economy are not enemies; they are natural allies. After all, our economy depends entirely upon our natural resources”( Aiken, Para 7). Many Christians reach the highest positions nowadays. Positions that give them power over the world’s destiny and future. Every leader should know that it was commanded to the man to preserve the environment, in Genesis 2:15 it is written, "The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it"(NIV). Although the Garden of Eden was perfect, God gave the commandment to humans to take care of it so it does not perish. This verse should shape the environmental politics of any political party that is God-centered and consequently encourage and promote environmental preservation. As a discipline, hunting is practiced by many nowadays. Hunting would not be a big problem if it was regulated. Some people hunt where they should and how they should, some others do it deliberately. With a cynical mindset, some people kill animals that cannot be eaten or that are not even dangerous. Because of these people, many animals have disappeared from nature, or there is just a few left. Animals that were useful for the calm of human beings are missing. In Haiti there is not much anoles as there used to be. Anoles used to be very useful because they eat mosquitoes and they are harmless. Hunting deliberately is also unbiblical; a Christian should set an example to the unbelievers and preserve them. It is stated in the bible in Proverbs 12:10 “The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel” (NIV).

When it comes to industries, pollution is a huge issue. Many people pollute the environment to fulfill their greed and without caring for the environment. Industries release pollutants that affect the health of the residents nearby. Industrial processes discharge carbon monoxide, which can lead to asphyxiation at high exposure (Parker & Parker , Para 9). It is also known that chemical gases can sometimes cause acidic rains. It is mandatory for a Christian who is called to do business to avoid air pollution as much as possible it is written in Number 35:33 “‘Do not pollute the land where you are. Bloodshed pollutes the land, and atonement cannot be made for the land on which blood has been shed, except by the blood of the one...
